Tommy Rene Green, 71, died on Monday, December 10, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

He was born on Feb. 14, 1947, in Monroeville, Al.  He was the valedictorian of Excel High School’s 1965 graduating class; from there, Tommy attended the University of Alabama and obtained his B.S. in Business Management from Troy State University.  He received his M.B.A. from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Tommy was a veteran of the United States Army, obtaining the rank of First Lieutenant.  He moved to Chattanooga in 1974 to take a position with Combustion Engineering.  His professional life spanned 40 years, and he retired as the authorized inspector at Alstom Power employed by Hartford Steam and Boiler.

He was a member of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church for 41 years, worked as an usher, in the Sunday school department, and was also a RA Leader.

Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Judy Reeves Green; son, Stacey Lee Green (Stacey Yount) of Chattanooga; son, Andy Alan Green of Chattanooga and Heppner, Oregon; granddaughters, Sloane Green, Chattanooga; and Hadley Green and MaKenna Green, Vancouver, Washington; mother, Ferra Mae Stabler of Monroeville, Alabama; brother, Charles Green (Patricia) of Jonesborough, Tennessee; brother, Jim Brooks (Delilah) of Monroeville, Alabama; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Tommy was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather.  His family was always his priority, and there was nothing he loved more than spending time with his boys and then his three beautiful granddaughters who were brought him so much joy.  He loved his country, his church, Alabama football, flying, sailing and being on the water, scuba diving, countless hours spent with his sons in deer stands on the family farm in Alabama, and spending time with Judy and his entire family at the beach.

FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS AND NEVER FORGOTTEN.
