William “Wild Bill” Brownsey, Sr., 82, of Ringgold, Georgia, was called home to be with his heavenly father on Thursday, December 13, 2018.

Before residing in Ringgold for the past 15 years, he was a longtime resident of Chattanooga.  Bill never met a stranger and enjoyed a full life.  He graduated from Chattanooga High in 1955 and UTC in 1962, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma.  He graduated from Hermann School of Physical Therapy in Houston, Tx. Prior to college Bill served in the Army 11th Airborne Division and Air National Guard.

He began his 43-year career in physical therapy at Sisken Rehabilitation Center, owned Northgate Physical Therapy and contracted with several home health agencies.

He was a member of the Sertoma Club and served as president in 1975-76.  He was a lung transplant recipient for 8+ years.  Bill was a member of Ringgold United Methodist Church where he loved his fellow members and enjoyed greeting.  He also enjoyed volunteering for Nourishing Children in Catoosa.    

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph W. and Jimmie S. Brownsey; brothers, Lt. Commander Thomas A. Brownsey and James Jackson Brownsey.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Patricia; daughters, Angela (Ken) Stone, Liane Brownsey; son, Sid (Susie) Brownsey; grandchildren, Timothy Gass, Daulton Mallett, Jasa Brownsey, Hannah Toy, Hogan Toy, Haylee Brownsey; sisters, Beth Fry, Hope Kirkland and sister-in-law, Carol Brownsey. 

The family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, and 2-3 p.m. on Sunday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life service for Bill will follow at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Gary Knowles officiating.  Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Sid Brownsey, Daulton Mallett, Hogan Toy, Tab Norris, Ken Stone and Tom Bock serving as pallbearers. 

Honorary pallbearers are members of the “lunch bunch”, Grady Rhoden, Glenn Butler, Ronnie Smith, Bob Brandon, Franklin Davis and Archie Myers, all 1955 graduates who met once a month. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, National Kidney Foundation or Ringgold United Methodist Church. 

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
