Betty Ruth Whatley, 89, a resident of Cleveland and formerly of Atlanta, Georgia, left this earth to be with her Savior on Saturday, December 8, 2018.

Originally from Macon, Ga. she was married to her husband, Earl Whatley, for over 61 years. He was the love of her life. Betty studied Medical Technology and worked for years in the Atlanta area as a Medical Technologist. She was a member of North Cleveland Church of God and over the last couple of years she has regularly attended His Hands Extended Devotions, and a weekly Bible Study with the Broad Street United Methodist Women. Both of these ministries meant so much to her during her time at Garden Plaza.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl Whatley: her parents, Charlie Cary and Ruth Middlebrooks; and two sons, Jerry Whatley and Jimmy Wayne Whatley.

She is survived by four children, Cary David Payne (Priscilla), Jo (Larry) Haege, Lynn Mahloy (Dave), Betsy Gilbert (Dan); and fourteen grandchildren: Cary Payne Jr., Scott Payne, Dale Stephens, Lyndsey Mahloy, Sarah Stewart, Leah Hughes, Adam Gilbert, Eddie Brumlow, David Brumlow, Jane Marks, Shannon Whatley, Shawn Whatley, Kathy King, Sandra Rinehart and twenty great grandchildren.

The Remembrance of Life Service will be held on Monday, Dec. 17, at 12:30 p.m. at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel with her grandson, Reverend Dale Stephens, officiating.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until the service time at 12:30 p.m. on Monday at the North Chapel.

Graveside services and Interment will be conducted on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 12 p.m. at the Macon Memorial Park in Macon, Ga., where she will be laid to rest next to her precious husband and parents. Family and friends will serve as casket bearers.

The Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel has charge of the arrangements.
