UTC Women Host Belmont Monday

  • Sunday, December 16, 2018
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team will play host to Belmont Monday, December 17 in the first of two games at the McKenzie Arena this week. It will be UTC's first two-game home stand since opening the season against Lee and Louisville in early November.

UTC is 11-3 all-time against the Bruins. The Mocs are on a nine-game win streak against Belmont. Chattanooga won the last meeting between the two teams at home in 2015 by a 62-53 margin. UTC is averaging 59.8 points and 33.4 rebounds per game.

Lakelyn Bouldin is the only Chattanooga player in double figures with 14.0 points per game.
She has a team-best 22 3-pointers and leads the Southern Conference in free throw percentage making 90.9 percent (30-33) of her attempts. She was 9-of-9 in the Mocs' last outing. Brooke Burns is second on the team in scoring with 7.7 points per game and Eboni Williams leads the Mocs on the boards with 4.4 rebounds per game. Molly Melton has a team-high 19 steals and is second in assists with 19 despite missing nearly four games.

The Mocs are 4-7 on the year and have lost their last five games, three on the road. Two of those losses were by a total of five points and included an overtime loss at Northern Colorado in their last outing.

The Bruins are 5-3 on the year under second-year head coach Bart Brooks. Belmont is getting back on the court after a near-two week break in the schedule for exams. The Bruins drained 17 3-pointers in an 83-43 win over Lipscomb. Belmont has wins over Wright State, MTSU, Northern Kentucky and Tulsa while falling to NC State, Toledo and Clemson. The Bruins received 292 points in the latest College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 and rank 16th in the poll.

Ellie Harmeyer leads the Bruins with 14.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. She is shooting 44.8 percent from the field and is 21-of-28 from the free throw line. Darby Maggard is the other Bruin in double figures with 13.8 points per game. She leads the team from long range with 24 3-pointers and has 28 assists. Jenny Roy has a team-best 38 assists and 19 steals. She is third on the team in scoring with 9.4 points and leads the Bruins with 7.4 rebounds per game.

Former Chattanooga head coach Wes Moore makes his first return to the McKenzie Arena when he brings the 10th-ranked NC State Wolfpack to the Roundhouse. He will sit on the visitor's bench for just the second time. The Mocs were the "visiting" team against Vanderbilt in the NCAA Tournament second round.
