Katherine "Kay" Welch Scasbrick, of Chattanooga passed away in her home of over 70 years, December 14, 2018.
The eleventh of twelve children, Kay was born November 9, 1920, to John and Carrie Welch of Hixson, Tennessee, graduated Hixson High School and married the late Charles William Scasbrick in 1942. The couple built a home in nearby Red Bank where they lived the remainder of their lives, raising children and enjoying fellowship and worshipping at Red Bank Baptist Church. Charles later passed in December 2002.
She is survived by her son, Gary Scasbrick; daughter, Carol Scasbrick; grandchildren: Jennifer Thomas, Kris Trentham, Kenny Vickers, Carl McGill and Glenn Scasbrick; nine great grandchildren also survive.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Dec. 18, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. She will be laid to rest at 2:30 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
