Minister Clinton Wright, 65, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away Friday, December 14, 2018 at his residence.

He was born to the late Lonnie Woods and Grace Wright on Dec. 30, 1952. Minister Wright was raised by his stepfather Junious Rogers. Growing up in Burlington, N.C., he enjoyed the outdoors. He graduated from Covington Theological Seminary with an Associate’s Degree. He was also a self-employed brick mason. His leisure time was spent fishing, hunting, playing harmonica and the bass guitar. He loved music and played Gospel, blue grass, and rhythm and blues. He enjoyed cooking and eating exotic foods such as rabbit, bear, squirrel, raccoon, and deer. He loved singing at nursing homes with his daughter, Gracia, spending time with family, and spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. He was a devoted father, husband and an associate minister at Mount Zion Baptist Church. Minister Wright and his wife were faithfully dedicated to the music and choir ministry at Mt. Zion Baptist church.

His son, Dennedy Cordell Wright; stepfather, Junious Rogers; and brothers, Ervon H Rogers and Jerry Rogers, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Suttles Wright; daughters, Gracia Wright, Catilyn (Sherman) Howze, all of Dalton, Ga., and Natika (Damon) Roberson of Champagne, Il.; stepson, Zimbe Kimbugwe of Atlanta, Ga.; granddaughters, Taylor Williams, Payton Roberson, and Morgan Roberson; sisters, Francis Rogers of Virginia, Sandra K. (Jonathan) Jones, Donna Christian of Burlington, N.C., and Saphronia (Gary) Yancey of Utah, Pamela (Knowles) Harmon; brothers, Melvin (Elizabeth) Wright of Elon, N.C., Benjamin (Angie) Rogers of Green Level, N.C., and Douglas Rogers; special aunt, Ernestine Hurdle of Burlington; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Minister Paul and Julia Suttles; aunts, uncles; sisters-in-law, Lugenia Vasser (Rev. Vasser), Tracia Miller; brothers-in-law, Min. Major Suttles, Sherman (Tahnee) Suttles, and Todd (Michelle) Suttles; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, Dec. 22, at 11 a.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 289 Dunwoody Road, LaFayette, Georgia 30728, with Pastor Rheubin M. Taylor and other ministers officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church for a musical celebration on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m.

Interment will be in Naomi Cemetery.
