When Tommy Brown took over as Boyd Buchanan's athletic director about six months ago, it soon became apparent he was serious about returning the Buccaneers to a position of respect in high school football. Brown who is a Boyd alumnus, graduating in 1988 as a basketball standout, played college basketball and later became a very successful college basketball coach. He most recently coached at Lee University in Cleveland, winning several championships and taking the Flames to the national tournament on several occasions.
He knows a thing or two about winning and his first priority leading the Bucs' athletic department was to hire a new football coach.

An 0-10 record in his first season where the Bucs were outscored on an average of 55-5 each game was more than he could handle. He put together a search committee comprised of several successful local businessmen and accepted more than 200 applications for the job. The search committee decided upon 36 year old Jeremy Bosken who was introduced today in a press conference held at Boyd Buchanan.

Bosken has developed quite a reputation as a coach who can turn down and out programs into winners and he does it quickly. His most recent coaching gig was at Knoxville Halls High School where he guided his team to a 5-5 mark in the regular season and into the TSSAA playoffs. He also became the winningest head coach in David Crockett High School history when he put together a 20-20 mark in four seasons at the Jonesborough, Tennessee school.

Bosken who is a former marine, has an unbelievable rapport with the Boyd Buchanan student athletes. The Bucs finished the 2018 season with less than thirty players, yet more than forty showed up at a team meeting this morning. In other words, Bosken hasn't even drawn his first paycheck yet and he's already paying dividends. He has created an air of excitement that hasn't been seen at Boyd Buchanan in quite a while.

The Buccaneers have a lot of tradition on their side. Since 2002, they have placed second in the TSSAA playoffs three times and won the 2003 title outright. Coaches like Robert Akins, Grant Reynolds and Carter Cardwell helped to build a solid program. It may be down now but only for a short while. With the leadership of Jeremy Bosken, the Bucs should once again become one of the premier programs in Tennessee.
