David and Brittany Durkin, owners of Terra Running Company in downtown Cleveland, has been awarded the 2018 Mainstreet Cleveland annual business award. The couple owns and operates their business in historic downtown and was responsible for several new special events held downtown.this year. They also have a downtown coffee shop.
The Bobby Taylor Award was give to Mayor Emeritus Tom Rowland for his longtime support of downtown. He is one of the charter members of Mainstreet and only the second person to receive the award. Businessman Allan Jones, also a charter member of Mainstreet, was the first recipient and made the presentation to Rowland . The award honors the memory of the late Bobby Taylor, a founding member of Mainstreet and founder of Bank of Cleveland. The award is given to individuals who "make significant contributions to preservation and promotion of downtown historic and business district."
Mayor Rowland said he is pleased with the exciting things happening downtown and urged members to keep up the momentum. He said downtown is fortunate to have a partnership with Lee University as the beautiful campus moves closer into the heart of downtown.
The award took place during the annual meeting of Mainstreet hosted by Bank of Cleveland.
