A Brainerd High School student reported being raped on school grounds on Wednesday.
A student who was accused in the incident was taken into custody.
School officials said, "Wednesday at Brainerd High School, a student reported a rape that occurred after dismissal on school grounds.
Immediately, administrators called law enforcement and notified the Department of Children Services. The Chattanooga Police Department launched an investigation into the rape allegation, which involved two juvenile students. Chattanooga Police took the accused student offender into custody last night."
Supt. Bryan Johnson said, “We recognize our first responsibility to parents is to protect their children in our care, and we are deeply saddened that this incident has occurred.”
