Cleveland State Women's Basketball Defeats Volunteer State, 59-54

Cleveland State Community College's women's basketball team had their second straight day of conference play, taking on Volunteer State on Saturday. The Lady Cougars managed to edge past the Lady Pioneers, winning by a score of 59-54.

Leading the Lady Cougars was Jordan Smith who dropped a season-high 20 points. Smith also had 4 rebounds and a block.

Britnay Gore had another fantastic game, dropping 19 points, 10 rebounds and a whopping 7 blocks. Hannah Phillips also scored 10 points and 8 rebounds in the matchup.

It was a close game between the two teams, a matchup which saw the score knotted up many times. Cleveland State kept pushing the bill, regaining the lead time and time again. The Lady Cougars regained the lead late in the 4th quarter and held on to it, winning the game, 59-54 over the Lady Pioneers.

The Lady Cougars are now 3-8 (2-3) on the season. Up next, Cleveland State will face Wallace State Community College on December 21st at home at 2:00 PM EST.
