Hilda Sue (Griffin) Ezell, of Fort Oglethorpe (Lakeview), Georgia, passed on to her rightful place in heaven on December 8, 2018.   

She was born on Nov. 14, 1925, in Rock Spring, Ga. She lived most of her life in Lakeview, Ga. and Fort Oglethorpe, and was an employee of Cutter Laboratory, Loveman’s and Proffitt’s Department stores.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Ruth Griffin; sisters: Virginia (Griffin) Howell and Mary Nell Griffin; brother: William Griffin; husband, Alfred Oliver Ezell, her son-in-law, Duane Ballew, and her grandson, Drew Ezell.

She is survived by her children: Dianne Ballew (Fort Oglethorpe); Jack Ezell (East Ridge); Gene (and wife, Cynthi) Ezell (Nashville); Mary (Ezell) Jones, Kennesaw, Ga.; and Greg Ezell (Adairsville, Ga.); her niece, Donna (Howell) Rice and great-niece, Stacie Rice; many nieces and nephews; six grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Hilda attended Lakeview Baptist Church in Rossville for over 60 years, and she left a tremendous legacy of faith to all her family. She was a loving, devoted and caring Mom to all of her children, and she was a great example of a wife, sister, aunt, mother and grandmother throughout her life.

The family would like to give special thanks to Ruth McMillan, a friend, neighbor and caregiver; and to Southern Heritage Assisted Living of East Ridge, Life Care Center of East Ridge, and Hospice of Chattanooga, for their wonderful care and compassion for our Mom.

Visitation will be on Monday, Dec. 10, from 5-8 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home, South Crest Chapel, 833 Chickamauga Avenue, Rossville.   

The funeral service will be held at Lane Funeral Home on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 1 p.m. with Reverend Greg Ezell and Reverend Patrick Cooper officiating.

The funeral service will be followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Avenue, Chattanooga, Tn.
