The Georgetown land grab is just ‘Business as Usual’ for TVA. For the past 80 years they’ve shown their stripes in this matter - 170,000 acres seized at LBL, countless acreage taken in the Tennessee River Valley. Land taken for coal and nuclear sites. All by the same play book. All from average people.
We want this, you have this, we get this.
I worked with TVA as a contractor years ago, I saw the waste and high handedness they run on first hand. We had two floors of a nice five-floor building near the Airport in Nashville. TVA wanted the other three but the owner (politically connected) didn’t want to break the lease of the tenants there. TVA management balked.
I suggested they simply condemn the building and claim eminent domain to take it. I was told straight up, “We can’t just take someone’s property.”. When I pointed out they had a track record of exactly that, it didn’t sit well. True enough, but I had ruffled certain feathers and wasn’t there very long after that.
Mr. Vital, I wish you all the luck in the world. You’ll lose, but fight on.
