County Schools, Other Schools To Open On A 2-Hour Delay Monday Morning

  • Sunday, December 9, 2018

Hamilton County Schools will open on a two-hour delay on Monday due to a threat of slippery road conditions in the higher elevations overnight.

Officials said, "Below freezing temperatures are expected in areas of Hamilton County which could cause travel problems in the morning.  Buses will run two hours later than normal in the morning and schools will begin two hours later.  School age child care will be open at the regular time tomorrow with the exception of Thrasher and Nolan elementary schools on Signal Mountain.

Thrasher and Nolan childcare will not be open in the morning but will be open in the afternoon.

"We will continue to monitor weather and road conditions overnight and will send an update by 5 a.m. if conditions change and cause the district to possibly close schools tomorrow.  Schools are just on a two hour delay at this time but the district will continue to monitor road conditions with the assistance of area Emergency Management and emergency personnel."

Chattanooga Christian School will be delayed two hours. Officials said, "Due to the potential of ice in mountain areas and on overpasses, Chattanooga Christian School will be delayed 2 hours tomorrow, Monday, December 10."

Also on a two-hour delay will be Dade, Walker and Catoosa County Schools.

Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy and Chattanooga Prep School will be on one-hour delays.
