Erlanger Reports Slight Decline In Flu Cases Over Previous Week

Tuesday, February 13, 2018

Erlanger Health System reports flu-like illnesses have dropped from 226 cases the last week of January to 184 cases the first week of February. While these latest figures are lower than the previous week, they are still significantly higher than the same period the last two years. Last year, at this point in the flu season, Erlanger had reported only 316 total cases of flu. In 2015-16, during this same time period, Erlanger had treated only 83 cases of the flu.

What Erlanger is experiencing this flu season is similar to two years ago. From October, 2014 through mid-February, 2015 Erlanger had treated a total of 1,148 flu cases. This year, Erlanger has reported 30 more cases during that same time period, at a total of 1,178.

Medical officials continue to encourage area residents to get vaccinated if they haven’t already. It is not too late to get a flu vaccination since flu season could last until May. People should contact their physician or nearest clinic or pharmacy for more information.
