U.S. Army Veteran Retired From CF Industries And CHI Memorial Hospital

Marvin L. Scoggins, 81, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, passed away on April 20, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Marvin was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Germany and a member of the American Legion.  He retired from CF Industries and CHI Memorial Hospital.  He also loved the Tennessee Vols and the ATL Braves baseball team.

He was preceded in death by his parents; James Henry and Minnie Dill Scoggins; three brothers and five sisters.

Survivors are his loving wife and caregiver of 59 years, Bernice Payne Scoggins and one brother, Frank (Donna) Scoggins of Harrison; three children, Suzanne (Guy) Carpenter of Hixson, Steve (Cindy) Scoggins of Harrison, and Becky (Joe) Nall of East Ridge; six grandchildren, Stephen Scoggins of Signal Mountain, Brandi Curtis of Nazareth, Pa., Dustin Carpenter of Red Bank, Lauren Dean of Hixson, and Jessica and Andy Nall of East Ridge; 13 great-grandchildren, Noah, Jonathan, Kayleigh, Kaitlyn, Scarlet, Adisyn, Hadyn, Micah, Jack, Anna, J.T., Renlee, and Christopher James.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 22, from 4-8 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Monday, April 23, at 11:30 a.m. in the Turner Funeral Home chapel.  Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
