The winning Public Education Foundation Teacherpreneur project from last summer’s Pitch Night, Drone Racing League, will host their student-designed and -built drone racing obstacle course this Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Red Bank High School in the old gym.
Where robotics clubs were once few and far between, Teacherpreneurs Mary Manning and Drew Akins saw an opportunity for students to develop future-ready workforce skills through drone racing. They are partnering with Greater Chattanooga Multirotor, a group of local hobbyists who drone race, to race students at the event. The student-designed and –built drone racing obstacle course is portable, and they said will work to bring this experience to other schools in Hamilton County.
PEF’s Teacherpreneur Incubator provided the funding and support to make this idea and project happen with thanks to the sponsors of the program: the Benwood Foundation, Footprint Foundation and Locals Only Chattanooga.
