Ruth Jewell Hickman
Ruth Jewell Hickman, 90, of Decatur, Tennessee, died on Tuesday, May 22, at her home. S
he was a member of the Mt Carmel United Methodist Church. She was a teacher, having retired after 25 years of teaching from Meigs County Schools.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Jewell and Ocie (Allen) Jewell; her loving husband of 64 years, John B. “J.B.” Hickman; and her brothers, Allen and T.H. “Doc” Jewell (wife, Irene Henley Jewell).
She is survived by her beloved and devoted son, Allen; dear family friends, Tommie Kaye and Edd Layman; and several nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 25, with the Rev. Hugh Brian officiating. Interment will be in Decatur Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Todd Jewell, Andy Jewell, Richie Layman, Heath Layman, Ron Hennessee, and Tommy Burton. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Jewell and Edd Layman.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 24, from 5-8 p.m. at the Bowers Funeral Home.
