Dalton Police Seeking Suspect In Attempted Robbery Or Assault

Thursday, August 23, 2018

The Dalton Police Department is asking for information from the public to identify a suspect who approached a woman leaving the Planet Fitness gym on Tuesday and brandished a knife.

The victim was able to get away in her car and was unharmed. The suspect was driving a 1998-2002 model silver Honda Accord coupe with a spoiler and sunroof.

The incident happened Tuesday night at approximately 10:30 p.m. The victim left the gym and had just gotten into her car and was putting away her headphones with her driver’s side door still open when the suspect approached her. The suspect brandished a knife and leaned against the car and told the victim to drive away. The victim was able to close and lock the door to her car and drove away from her parking spot. She stopped on the other side of the parking lot to collect herself and observed the suspect driving out of the lot in the Accord coupe.

The suspect was described as a white male wearing a ball cap with a beard, standing approximately six feet tall with an average build in his late 20s or early 30s.

Anyone with information on this incident or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Detective Brian Shirley at 706 278-9085, ext. 9189.
