Martha Fryar Sertel, 87, died on September 9, 2018, at her home. 

Martha was a native Chattanoogan and worked as a secretary for Standard, Coosa & Thatcher, and Stophel, Caldwell and Heggie. 

Martha is preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Margaret Fryar; and husband, Earl Sertel.  

Survivors include daughters, Cindy (Steve) Naugle and Diane (Steve) Parks; grandchildren, Ryan (Mary) Naugle, Holly Flores and Janie (Adam) Varnell; three great-grandchildren; and siblings, Glendolyn Wild, Hazel Waters, and Russell Fryar. 

The family will receive visitors Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 4-7 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home on South Moore Road. 

The funeral will be at Brainerd United Methodist Church Thursday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m.  Internment will follow at the National Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brainerd United Methodist Church.    

Arrangements are under the care of Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist East Chapel, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, TN 37412.
