Due to the anticipated, significant evacuation of the coastal area affected by Hurricane Florence, Hamilton County Office of Emergency Management, American Red Cross and other organizations, are coordinating in the opening and operation of an Evacuation Shelter for Hurricane Florence evacuees.
The Evacuation Shelter will be located at the Brainerd Youth and Family Development Center.
The Disaster Animal Response Team will be opening a Pet Shelter on site for those evacuees who have traveled with their pets.
The best way to support disaster victims is with a financial donation, said officials. Financial donations allow officials to prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters like Hurricane Florence, as well as provide immediate needs like shelter and food. To make a financial donation to the American Red Cross visit www.redcross.org/donate or for a $10 donation text FLORENCE to 90999.
