Arp, James Harold, Sr. (Cleveland)

James Harold Arp, Sr., 86, a longtime resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

James was a minister of the gospel and was a faithful member of East Cleveland Baptist Church for over 52 years where he has been a deacon for 50 years. James served as the assistant pastor at East Cleveland Baptist Church for many years. In his early years, James served his country in the United States Army. James was a very skilled woodworker and loved to build furniture with his hands. 

James was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Delvena Arp; father Homer Garland; mother Marie Arp; and son David Arp. 

Left behind to cherish his memory is his son James Arp, jr.; his very special friends J.C. and Mary Sue Roderick and Jan Wilson. 

The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, Jan. 12, from 5-8 p.m. and on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, from 12-1 p.m. with the service to follow all at East Cleveland Baptist Church. The burial will follow the service on Sunday, Jan. 13, at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Murphy, N.C. Pastor Joe Lockman and Pastor Larry Chastain will be officiating the service.
