County Commissioner Warren Mackey and his guests frequently dine at taxpayer expense at a variety of local restaurants, county records show.

Sometimes twice a day, he gets county reimbursement for meals.

Recipients of the free meals in 2018 included City Councilwoman Demetrus Coonrod, former City Councilman Chris Anderson, and former county mayor candidate Aloyse Brown. Councilwoman Coonrod said, "I had no idea it was covered by his commission funds."

Questioned about the practice, Sabrena Smedley, commission chairman, said, "I don't know of other commissioners who eat out and charge it to the county."

Commissioner Mackey said, "I engage with a lot of people in the community trying to get insights into what's going on."

Fake News Strikes Again And Again - Response

Two major stories exploded across the headlines this past week which confirm my opinion that the mainstream media (MSM) is biased, incompetent, and can seldom be trusted to impart the news fairly and accurately. The first instance was the BuzzFeed story regarding Michael Cohen and how he allegedly lied on President Trump's behalf to Congress. Virtually all of the big media outlets ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: Has Publix Dried Up?

The legendary Baron of Baseball in Chattanooga was Joe Engel. He was a promoter of such renown his portrait was painted on the toilet in the ball park’s press box “in honor of my friends in the press.” I remember, quite vividly, when Mr. Engel traded a left-handed pitcher for a live turkey. Yes, a real bird in a crate! The best promoter in the majors was Bill Veeck who, quite famously, ... (click for more)

Massey Brings "A New Excitement" To Silverdale Baseball

Over the last few days, Chattanooga has been dealing with a brutally cold weather system that struck like a frigid shockwave from the northwest. Yet, Jon Massey, ... (click for more)
