Mack Jones
On the beautiful, crisp afternoon of Wednesday, January 9, 2019, Mack “Jonesie” V. Jones, at the age of 94 years old, entered the gates of heaven with the angels singing and the Lord praising his dedication in his ministry while he was on this earth.
Mack was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Jasper, Tennessee along with serving as a deacon and the song leader. He loved his Baptist faith and loved sharing his ministry to bringing loved ones to know God. His favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing along with loving his dear family and friends.
Mack served in the U.S. Army for three years. He was employed with Tennessee Valley Authority as a foreman until his retirement.
Mack was preceded in death by his parents, James William Jones and Millie Jones; sons, Wayne and Kenneth Jones; daughter, Patricia Rector; brothers, Troy, Minkey, Lotchie and Tim Jones; sisters, Faye Williams, Mamie Lou Wells, and Mary Cantrell.
Those left to continue his memories are his wife of 71 years, Elsie Jones; son, Lavoy (Tonya) Jones; daughter, Drenda (Lloyd) Pittman; sister-in-law, Judy Jones; twelve grandchildren; Meshon Scott, Vanessa Thacker, Marilda Roberson, Tiffany Downey, Tabby Hatfield, Rick Jones, Cody Jones, Christie Clark, Cliff Rector, Burgess Perry, Travis Jones and Leslie Beene along with several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitations for Mack will be Friday, January 11, and Saturday, Jan. 12, from 2 p.m. CST to 8 p.m. at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tn.
Funeral services will be conducted at the chapel at Tate Funeral Home on Sunday, Jan. 13, at 1 p.m. with Brother Frank Young and Brother Jonathan Lawson officiating. Following the funeral there will be a military service presented by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guards.
Mack will be laid to rest at Caroline Chapel Cemetery in Whitwell, Tn. following the services.
