Commissioner Warren Mackey
County Commissioner Warren Mackey and his guests frequently dine at taxpayer expense at a variety of local restaurants, county records show.
Sometimes twice a day, he gets county reimbursement for meals.
Recipients of the free meals in 2018 included City Councilwoman Demetrus Coonrod, former City Councilman Chris Anderson, and former county mayor candidate Aloyse Brown. Councilwoman Coonrod said, "I had no idea it was covered by his commission funds."
Questioned about the practice, Sabrena Smedley, commission chairman, said, "I don't know of other commissioners who eat out and charge it to the county."
Commissioner Mackey said, "I engage with a lot of people in the community trying to get insights into what's going on."
