Hester, Bayless Earl "Sonny"

Bayless Earl “Sonny” Hester, 71, of Fort Oglethorpe, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, January 12, 2019. Sonny was a lifelong resident of Chickamauga and was a member of Clearview Baptist Church. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and retired from UPS after more than 32 years of employment. Sonny was an avid fisherman, loved to play golf and never met a stranger. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, who will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. 

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel and Earl Hester. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Kay Dover Hester; brother, Jim (Mitzi) Hester; son, Earl (Denise) Hester; daughters, LaRhonda (Jimmy) White and Tiki (Mike) Broaderick; and, by marriage, sons, Mack (LaSonya) Dover and Randy (Renee) Dover; grandson, Houston (Courtney) Dover; and son-in-law, Robert Clingan; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. 

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16 in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Herman Kapherr officiating. Entombment will follow in Lakewood Memorial Gardens-South. The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday and prior to the service on Wednesday.
