Chattanooga Federal Court had been preparing to close its doors as of Friday, but Senior Judge Sandy Mattice said a week's reprieve has been given.
He said he was notified by the Administrator of the Courts in Washington that the new close-down date is a week from Friday.
The pending halt to the courts is part of the ongoing federal government shutdown.
Judge Mattice said he has had several requests to delay cases due to the shutdown, but has not yet acted on them.
He said, "This may be affecting morale in some of the offices, but we have some dedicated public servants who continue doing their jobs."
