Wednesday, January 16, 2019

Erlanger East Hospital invites the community to an open house at the new Erlanger C Building on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Members of the community are invited on a behind-the-scenes peak of the new Erlanger East Hospital C Building offering a wide array of comprehensive cancer services in one building.

Attendees can tour new physician practices as well as Erlanger Cancer Institute departments, meeting providers and see the new technology being utilized such as Genius 3D Tomography Mammography System and SmartCurve stabilization system and  the new TrueBeam Radiotherapy System.

The new facility was designed with patient experience in mind. Flat, street-level parking, a covered drop off area along with complimentary valet parking helps patients and their families to have minimal commute time from parking to the office. Once inside, a friendly ambassador will guide visitors to their destination. The walls are all adorned with bright, colorful, local art giving the building a relaxing and peaceful feel.

Services currently offered in the Erlanger East Hospital C Building include Erlanger Center for Breast Health, Erlanger Dermatology, Erlanger Pulmonary and Critical Care, Erlanger Medical Genetics, Erlanger Oncology and Hematology, Erlanger Radiation Oncology and Infusion Departments. Adding these services to East Brainerd is part of the health system’s plan for providing comprehensive medical services in a convenient and accessible location. Erlanger aims to raise the bar for advanced pulmonary, surgical, stroke, heart, emergency medicine, and now cancer care in a full-service, comprehensive, community hospital at Erlanger East Hospital.

The C Building is located at 1635 Gunbarrel Road in Chattanooga, Tn. For more information about services offered at the new building, visit www.erlanger.org/East.

Be A Bright Spot During A Dark Time This Thanksgiving

This year will mark the fact that I have had the opportunity to live through 56 Thanksgivings. I was born on a Sunday, Nov. 24, 1963, two days after the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Thanksgiving occurred on Nov. 28 that year, the same as this year. It was a time, not unlike today, filled with political uncertainty. My mother told me I was the only child born that evening.
