Met The Love Of His Life While Serving With The Navy In The Phillipines

Wallace Bennette Heard, 68, a resident of Chattanooga, passed away Jan. 16, 2019.

He served in the U.S. Navy for five years. That's where he met the love of his life, Linda, in the Phillipines. They would have been married 46 years on February 26th.

One of his proudest accomplishments is helping to launch two space shuttles in his time working for Lockheed Martin. He worked at Chattanooga Armature Works for 15 years, and retired in 2018. He was a loving husband and father.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Bennette Heard and Jeanne C. Compton. Survivors include his wife, Linda Heard; daughter, Christene Heard (Ronnie) Ramsey; stepson, Jesse (Jennifer) Mendoza; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, in the chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home with Bro. Richard Floyd officiating.

A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.

He loved his friends like family. He will be truly missed.
