Glenn McArthur Charles, 76, of Rossville, Georgia, formerly of Cumming, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 29, 2018.

 

Glenn graduated from Forsyth County High School. He joined the Navy in 1959 and was stationed in Beeville, Tx. He later did a tour on the USS Saratoga. Glenn was also stationed in Jacksonville, FL., San Diego, Ca., and the Naval Air Station in Marietta, Ga. He was honorably discharged from Norfolk, Va., in 1963.

 

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Ida Mae (O’Kelley) Charles; sister, Mary Helen Charles Yates; daughter, Kelly Gwen Charles Turner; wife, Clista Burgess Charles; and his uncle, Leland Charles.

 

He was survived by his wife, Nancy Ault Oxford-Charles; sister, Cherrie Charles Grimes (Roger); his children, Randy Charles (Tracy), Kim Hamby (Rex), and Karen Bruce (Mike); his step-children, James Oxford, and Ginger Wiggins (Marcus VanHoosier); 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Bobby and Clara Mae Hughes.

 

In recent years, Glenn and his wife, Nancy have enjoyed spending time in Santa Rosa Beach, Fl.  

 

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m. at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Clyde Boling officiating.

 

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until time of the service.

 

Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming is in charge of arrangements.
