Mary Ellen Dempsey Atterton, 85, of Whitwell, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2018. She retired from Whitwell Sports Wear and was a lifetime member of Whitwell Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Atterton; parents, Rev. Allen & Leona Dempsey; brother, Edley Dempsey; and sisters, Lorene Payne and twin sister, Helen Morrison.
Those left to cherish her memories are her sisters, Carolyn (Gene) Mickel, of Whitwell; grandchildren, Preston McCurry & Cullen McNeece; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A special thank you to NHC Dunlap, Hospice of Chattanooga and all who helped with her care, and friends.
Family will receive friends from 1-8 p.m. CDT on Saturday, Jan. 19. Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20 at Whitwell Church of God with, Rev. Michael Shrum and Rev. John Yeoman officiating. Interment to follow at Red Hill Cemetery.
