Chattanooga junior Lakelyn Bouldin was named the Southern Conference women’s basketball player of the week for her performance in the Mocs’ back-to-back wins over Wofford and Furman, the league office announced Tuesday.
Bouldin, Chattanooga’s leading scorer, topped the 900-point mark in the first quarter of the Mocs’ 89-82 win over Wofford on Thursday last week. She scored a season-high 26 points in the shootout and recorded her first career double-double with a career-best 12 rebounds.
She had five assists and a blocked shot in the win while shooting 11-of-23 from the field with four 3-pointers.
In the Mocs’ win over Furman, Bouldin added 11 points to bring her career scoring mark to 926 points. She grabbed eight rebounds, matching her previous career-high, and added two blocked shots, the most for her in a single game, and two more assists.
Bouldin is ranked ninth in the SoCon in scoring with 12.9 points per game and leads the SoCon at the free throw line making 87 percent of her attempts. She has a Chattanooga-best 29 3-pointers this season and ranks eighth all-time at UTC with 155 for her career.
The Mocs will hit the road this week to take on SoCon defending champion Mercer Thursday at 5:00 p.m. before heading to Birmingham for a matchup against Samford. Follow the action online at GoMocs.com.
