UTC Releases 2019 Football Schedule

Tuesday, January 22, 2019

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football head coach Rusty Wright announced the 2019 Football Schedule today.  The Mocs have six home dates on the 12-game slate, highlighted by a Thursday Night showdown against Southern Conference rival ETSU, a visit from perennial FCS power James Madison and a trip to Tennessee.

"This is a very tough schedule, but we are excited about playing some of the best teams in the country," stated Wright.  "We have a lot of work to do to get ready, and we will need everyone's support this season.  There are some great games ahead, so be sure to get a season ticket and be at Finley in the fall."

UTC opens at home against Eastern Illinois on Saturday, Aug.

31.  This is the first game against the Panthers from the Ohio Valley Conference. Week 2 features a trip to another OVC member at Jacksonville State on Sept. 7.  The Gamecocks finished with a 9-4 record last season and a No. 10 national ranking in the STATS FCS Poll.

Chattanooga stays on the road at Tennessee on Sept. 14.  This is the second game in five seasons against the Vols. Prior to the 2014 contest, these two teams had not met since 1969.

James Madison makes a visit to the Scenic City on Sept. 21.  The Dukes finished No. 9 in the FCS with a 9-4 mark.  JMU won the FCS Title in 2016 and was runner-up in 2017.  This is the first meeting in the series, but not JMU's first trip to Chattanooga.  The Dukes also won the 2004 FCS Championship against Montana in Finley Stadium.

SoCon play kicks off with HOMECOMING on Sept. 28 against Western Carolina.  A trip to Mercer on Oct. 5 is followed by the open weekend on Oct. 12.  That leads into the Thursday night game against ETSU at Finley Stadium on Oct. 17.

The Mocs are back on the road against Wofford on Oct. 26 and at home against Furman on Nov. 2.  A trip to Samford on Nov. 9 is followed by Senior Day against The Citadel on Nov. 16.  The regular season finale is at VMI on Nov. 23.

Season tickets go on sale Feb. 6, but fans can place a deposit now on GoMocs.com by clicking here.  Priority for tickets in the Chattanooga section at the Tennessee game will begin with season ticket holders.

The Mocs are hosting a National Signing Day Party at the Finley Stadium Club on Feb. 6.  Be sure to check back to GoMocs.com for full details.

Why Does Walden Need A Large Grocery Store? - And Response (2)

The town of Walden has a population of 2,118 people. What do those citizens need with a 49,000 square foot grocery store? Or with 10,000 square feet of commercial office space? Or a fuel island? Or increased tractor trailer traffic with proportional damage to the road up and down the mountain? Or multiple traffic lights at the “W” Road intersection and at Timesville Road? When ... Roy Exum: An Easter Invitation

One of the hardest things a lot of people face is one of the easiest. Every so often someone will ask me about my faith and, while I mention it occasionally in a story, I never want to force my spirituality on anyone. But for some people, just the thought of asking God for forgiveness and His gift of eternal life is scary and it shouldn’t be. It costs nothing yet is priceless. And, ... (click for more)
