Kathryn Longley Newton, 94, formerly of Ooltewah, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2019, at Durham-Hensely Nursing Home in Chuckey, Tn.
She was born on Sept. 14, 1924, to the late Nathan and Nellie Longley. Kathryn worked for many years as the secretary to the principle of Ooltewah High School. Looking for a change, she became the office manager for the dental practice of Dr. David Moen DDS.
She is survived by her son, Bill (Kathy) Newton, Greeneville, Tn.; daughter, Karen (Richard) Burns, Carrabelle, Fl.; grandson, Robert Hawkins, Nashville; and granddaughter, Kathryn Hawkins, Atlanta; nephew, Jim (Jane) Hundley, Lebanon, Tn.; and grandniece, Rachel Hundley (Keith Infantino), Nashville.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William J. Newton; and sisters, Bonnie Varnell and Rubye Hundley.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, Jan. 26, in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Weyland Stewart officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service on Saturday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
