Violet Mae Richardson Carr, 100, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019, in a local health care facility.

Violet was born to the late Hattie and Lewis Richardson April 28, 1918, in Liberal Missouri. She was born the fifth child of four sisters and three brothers who preceded in her in death, along with her husband Rev. Chester Warren Carr and her daughter-in-law Nancy Carr. She married Chester Warren Carr October 30, 1938 in Pittsburg, Ks. They had two children Helen and Dan. They began their ministry in the Church of God in 1953, and pastored in Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma. They retired in Joplin Missouri. While living in Joplin, Rev. Carr was injured in 1990 and moved to Cleveland, Tn., in 1991 to be close to their daughter. He became a resident of Life Care of Cleveland in 1992 and remained there until his death in October 2000.

Violet was a long time member of North Cleveland Church of God and was a resident of the North Cleveland Towers from 1991 until 2016. After a six month stay with her daughter she also became a resident of Life Care of Cleveland in May, 2017.

She is survived by her daughter, Helen Smith and her husband Joe, her son Dan Carr, her five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

A Remembrance of Life Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28, at North Cleveland Church of God, Dixon Center with Pastor Cy Harris and Pastor Mark Williams officiating. The committal service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with her grandchildren serving as casket bearers.

The family will receive friends Monday from 1-3 p.m. at the church.

Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Street Chapel has charge of the arrangements.
