Christ Unity Hosts Potluck Sunday This Weekend

Wednesday, January 30, 2019

Christ Unity of Chattanooga will have Potluck Sunday on Sunday. Bring a dish to share with others or simply come and enjoy lunch and community.

The speaker for the 11 a.m celebration service will be Dr. Danny Spears and special music will be provided by Robin Burk.

A native of western Kentucky, Rev. Dr. Spears’ spiritual journey began in Pentecostalism, and then evolved through what is sometimes called “Progressive Christianity.” A graduate of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary (MDiv. 2005 and DMin. 2011), he has been a student of Unity and New Thought teachings since 2015.

Rev. Dr. Spears has served Metropolitan Community Churches as a Spiritual Leader in various locations since 2001. He and his husband, Richard, have three children, five grandchildren, and share their Canton, Ga., home with their 21 year-old “kitten”, Powder.

Robin Burk is a multi-instrumentalist living in Chattanooga. Her instruments include Native American Style Flute, Handpan, Reverie Harp, ethno fusion flutes, and a variety of percussion and world instruments. Robin is a Certified Music Practitioner Intern providing live therapeutic music at the bedside of the ill and dying. She believes music opens the heart to release anxiety and tension in the body and mind and has the potential to bring us to a place of wholeness. She has performed at local churches, schools, festivals, weddings, and special events as well as festivals throughout the southeast. Ms. Burk's music provides a unique backdrop for events and special occasions. She often collaborates with other instrumentalists for classical ensemble style performances. She also facilitates workshops for musicians and non-musicians who wish to deepen their experience of self and sound.
