The Mowbray Volunteer Fire Department saved a house on Thursday on Mowbray Mountain.

At 3:40 p.m., a 911 call was made reporting a house fire at 9831 Reynolds Road. Mowbray VFD responded and arrived on the scene and reported fire showing in the living room.

Firefighters conducted an interior attack and extinguished the fire within minutes.

According to Mowbray Fire Chief Chris Weddington, the fire was accidental. An elderly man tripped and knocked over a heating oil lamp in the living room which allowed the fire to spread quickly.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the living room.

No injuries were reported, but Hamilton County EMS was on the scene for any potential injuries to the firefighters.

Damages are listed around $35,000-$40,000.

The American Red Cross came to the scene to help the family with their immediate needs.
