The Wall Tax - And Response

Monday, January 7, 2019

If our nation needs a wall so badly then we should have a wall tax. Americans can actually pay for it (since Mexico is not) and not put it on a credit card.

Once the wall is paid for, then we need a deficit tax and future wars will be paid for by a war tax.

Make all Americans start actually paying as we go. Time to actually put our money where our mouth is.

Mr .Turner, the federal taxes you’ve been paying have contributed to the $5 billion in foreign aid your government has handed to the Palestinians over the years (source: The Times of Israel, January 3, 2018).

According to a 2014 Pew Survey, the Palestinians dislike America more than anyone else. Now imagine that, our government gave people who dislike us more than their avowed enemies, Israel, $5 billion. Reckless spending of our tax money like this gift and so much more that is thrown away annually could have built two walls across our southern border.

I don’t hear anyone wailing at the border wall over waste like this. Perhaps it’s because those who get what passes for news from CNN never hear about it.

Don't Delay The Signal Mountain Wage Increase

Disclaimer: I have a personal interest involved that goes further than just being a citizen. Embedded in this unusually high tax increase proposal is a wage increase for town employees as I understand it. This particular increase is much less than the proposed 21.5 percent which is understandable. My concern: why should town employees have to wait for their well-deserved wage ... (click for more)

John Hunt: It's Always Tough Saying Farewell To A Pet

There comes a time in every pet owner’s life when difficult decisions have to be made. Althea and I experienced one of those Monday morning when we decided to send our cat CJ to the rainbow bridge. It was a painful decision, but it was the right one to make. We had gotten CJ when he was just a tiny kitten in October ’97. We figured he was about six weeks old, so we picked ... (click for more)
