Siskin Hospital SLP Awarded Certification

  • Tuesday, October 1, 2019

Siskin Hospital announces that Holly Polino, SLP, is now a certified lingraphica technology specialist.

The certification demonstrates proficiency in the use of the Lingraphica, an augmentative communication device. This device assists patients with communication deficits, such as aphasia and apraxia, and enables them to express themselves when they cannot do so verbally.

In addition, Ms. Polino demonstrated proficiency in specialized software that tracks speech, language and cognitive progress.

"The certification allows us to better meet the needs of our patients," officials said.  "With this certification, speech therapists like Ms. Polino can develop individualized programs for patients to use at home in between clinic visits and more carefully and precisely track their progress."

Ms. Polino is a speech-language pathologist in Siskin Hospital’s Outpatient Therapy Services, Cleveland clinic. She has more than 10 years of adult rehabilitation experience.

Ms. Polino obtained her master of science degree in speech-language pathology from Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, Ca. She is also certified in the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment and has more than eight years of experience utilizing this method of therapy for those with Parkinson’s disease or other neurological conditions. She is also a VitalStim and Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation provider.

The certification is awarded by Lingraphica.

Outpatient therapy services are provided at Siskin Hospital’s main campus, East Brainerd and Cleveland. For more information, call 423-634-1400.
