Jack Brown
Julian “Jack” Brown, 89, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Hamilton Medical Center.
Jack was the son of the late William and Sudie Westmoreland Brown. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie Lynn Smith Kane; brothers, Arthur Brown, Alfred Brown and Leon Brown; and sisters, Willie Sue Brown Lingerfelt, Mellora Brown Beckler, Evelyn Brown Moore and Mable Ruth Brown Edwards.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Elizabeth C. Brown; son and daughter-in-law, Don and Beth Smith of Chattanooga; sister-in-law, Pat Brown of Dalton; and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jack was born and raised in Dalton and was a graduate of Dalton High School. He was a faithful member of Central Church of Christ. As a veteran he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in Austria. Upon returning to the states, Jack resumed employment with Big Star grocery chain for 42 years and after retirement worked 10 years at Belk Department Store in Dalton.
Funeral services for Jack will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Central Church of Christ with Steve Griggs and Ross Jordan officiating.
Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends prior to the service Saturday, Oct. 5, from 12-2 p.m. at the church.
