Burrell Scores Game Winner In Lady Scots Win At Bob Jones Univesity

  • Saturday, October 12, 2019

Kailey Burrell put one home in the 51st minute and the Covenant women’s soccer team defeated Bob Jones, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon from Alumni Stadium.

The Scots improve to 6-4-1 while Bob Jones falls to 8-6-0 on the season.

Bob Jones posted five shots on the goal in the first half, but keeper Lucy Sandhoff kept them out of the back of the net to go into the first half knotted at zero.

In the second half, Covenant found the back of the net just under six minutes in. The Bruins had possession in their defensive third before Addy Cronan was able to tackle the defender and come up with the ball. Cronan then passed the ball to Kyra Duble who fired a shot that the Bob Jones goalie was able to deflect off the crossbar where Burrell cleaned up the shot for her seventh goal of the season.

The Bruins did not give up there putting up five more shots on frame, all stopped by Sandhoff to give Covenant the victory.

Bob Jones outshot the Scots 14-7.

Sandhoff got the start and went the full 90 for Covenant making 10 saves.

Duble led the Scots with three shots and an assist.

Angelina Martin went the full match for the Bruins facing six shots on goal and stopping five.

Covenant returns home to face Maryville on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m.
