Dalton State got another big win on Saturday afternoon with a 4-1 victory over Florida College in Southern States Athletic Conference action at Lakeshore Park Soccer Complex in Dalton.
(DS 1-0): Kevin Villatoro caught a cross from Amin Saheb Ettabaa and went right against Falcon goalkeeper Adam Rahman for the first goal of the day in the 25'.
(DS 2-0): Tom Bentham sent a pass in the direction of a cutting Noah Thomas that two Florida College players whiffed on trying to clear.
Thomas took the gift sent the ball to the back of the net just four minutes into the second half.
(DS 3-0): Santiago Moore collected his second goal of the season in the 54' on a lead pass from Fredrik Ackander.
(FC 3-1): Groutchov Pierre took a pass in front of DS netminder Aaron Fraire and beat the freshman with Jeremiah Ruth breathing down his neck to cut the DS lead to two in the 70'.
(DS 4-1): The Roadrunners polished off the win in the 81' when Richy Volny crossed a pass in front of goal that found Frank Herrera. Herrera sent a beautiful header past Rahman for a 4-1 lead.
Dalton State (Ga.) improves to (11-1-1, 3-0 SSAC) with the win, while Florida College falls to (6-5-1, 2-1-1 SSAC) with the loss. With the win, the Roadrunners run their unbeaten streak to 12 games.
The Roadrunners dominated from the onset with an advantage in shots (23-5) and shots on goal (14-3). Frank Herrera led with four shots on goal with Santiago Moore and Justin Riescher each adding three. Aaron Fraire added two saves in goal.
Adam Rahman had ten saves for the Falcons. Top FC scorer Groutchov Pierre notched the only Falcon goal of the day.
(RV) Dalton State will travel to Mount Vernon to take on Brewton-Parker (Ga.) on Saturday, October 19. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
