I-24 Freeway Shut Down In Both Directions In Brainerd For Couple Of Hours Tuesday Night Due To "Person In Distress"

The I-24 freeway was shut down in both directions in Brainerd for a couple of hours on Tuesday night.

There were reports of a person on the McBrien Road overpass possibly threatening suicide.

Police said there was "a person in distress."

Specially trained officers were dispatched to try to talk with the individual.

Police said the officers were able to get the man help and the freeway reopened shortly after 10:30 p.m.

Traffic had been diverted at the Moore Road exit beginning at 8:29 p.m.

Both lanes of traffic were affected.
