Glenn and Cindy Adamz of Hixson have been called to serve in the Thailand Bangkok mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  As senior missionaries, they will leave on March 2 and serve for a period of 18 months in the area of family history.

Glenn and Cindy are the parents of six children (three sons and three daughters) and have lived in the Hixson area for many years.  Mr. Adamz is a former bishop (ecclesiastical leader) of the Chattanooga II ward (congregation) and has served in other leadership positions.  Cindy has also served in leadership positions at both the ward (local congregation) and stake (larger geographic congregation) level of the church.

“As with all missionaries of The Church, they serve without pay and communicate with their families on their weekly preparation day via text messages, online messaging, phone calls and video chat, in addition to letters and emails,” officials said.
”The Adamz look forward to sharing with others their testimonies of Jesus Christ, and the importance of gathering family history records."

According to the Adamz', The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches that families can be together after this life.  “Therefore, it is essential to strengthen relationships with all family members, both those who are alive and those who have died”  To aid in this effort, The Church reports that it “has created the largest collection of family records in the world, with information on more than three billion deceased people.”   Through FamilySearch, a non-profit organization sponsored by The Church, the public has access “to information from 100 countries, including birth, marriage and death records, censuses, probates and wills, land records and more.”  The Church makes this information available to the public, free of charge.

The Chattanooga stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints also hosts a family history center.  The Church has a network of 4,600 local family history centers in 126 countries.  The Chattanooga Tennessee Family History Center is located at 3067 Ooltewah Ringgold Road, with hours of operations and phone posted online.
