Lee’s Percussion Ensemble To Present Fall Performance Oct. 27

Lee University’s Percussion Ensemble will perform on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 3 p.m. in the Conn Center. The concert will be directed by Dr. Andy Harnsberger, associate professor of music, and assisted by Richard Henson, adjunct percussion instructor at Lee.

The program will include pieces by Brandon Dittgen, Ivan Trevino, John Psathas, Kim André Arnesen, Michael Burritt, Michael Laurello, and Henson.

Lee’s Percussion Ensemble explores repertoire from contemporary genres to world music and improvisation. It recognizes nationally known artists and clinicians from around the country who specialize in African, Afro-Cuban, Arabic, and Brazillian percussion, as well as drum set, jazz vibes, marching percussion, marimba, and symphonic percussion.

Dr. Harnsberger, in addition to teaching at Lee, is a performing artist and clinician for Grover Pro Percussion, Malletech Instruments and Mallets, Remo Drum Heads, and Sabian Cymbals. He earned his Doctor of Musical Arts in performance and literature at the Eastman School of Music.

Mr. Henson currently serves as adjunct percussion instructor at Lee where he assists with the percussion ensemble and teaches world percussion lessons. Mr. Henson is a member of the Percussive Arts Society World Percussion and Diversity committees. He earned his Master of Music in percussion performance from Lee University and has performed with the Carrollton Symphony Orchestra, Chattanooga Choral Arts Society, Cleveland Jazz Quartet, East Tennessee Brass, Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, and Macon Symphony Orchestra.
