The Baylor girls soccer team traveled to John Paul II on Saturday in the first round of the Division II-AA state tournament. JPII scored the game winner in the 75th minute to earn the 3-2 win, ending Baylor season.
JPII's Cruz Gringold scored the first goal in the 38th minute.
They took a 2-0 lead when Katie Whiting scored in the 61st minute.
Baylor's Bella White scored back to back goals to tie the game at two. White's first goal was assistedby Melissa Oliveira and the second by Campbell Green.
At the 75th minute, JPII's Ava Preist scored off a long shot to go up 3-2.
"I am very proud to coach this group of young ladies," Baylor head coach Curtis Blair said. "They showed a lot of heart and determination to fight back into the game. Our seniors did a great job of leading us all year long and it’s not the ending we wanted, but they gave us everything they had and that’s all we can ask from them."
Baylor out shot JPII 7-4 and Addison Yelton had three saves.
