Covenant Men Place 5th, Women 6th At Berry Invitational

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. -- The Covenant cross country teams wrapped up the regular season with a strong showing at the Berry Invitational on Saturday in Mount Berry, Ga.

The men placed fifth overall in the meet, while the women were sixth.

For a second straight meet, Micaiah Allison paced the Scots as he came in 27th overall with an 8k time of 26:43.1.

Allison's time and finish helped Covenant to fifth in the meet with 134 points.

Leif Le Mahieu set a personal record as he completed the course in a time of 26:55.8 to finish 33rd. Jonathan George was 39th in the field with a mark of 27:04.6, while Matt Seitz came in with a time of 27:19.7 and a 47th place finish. Brendan Yeager rounded out the top five Covenant finishers with a mark of 27:24.6 to finish 50th. Ben Mellott (27:57.7) and Ian Sneller (28:12.4) completed the top seven runners for the Scots.

The women's side saw four of the top seven finishers for the Scots earn personal records. S.K. Lipperd set a career-best in the 6k race with a time of 23:49.5 as she finished 13th in a field that included 120 runners. Maggie Henry also posted a personal record as she completed the course in 24:22.5 and was 25th overall.

Ashleigh Baker was the third Scot to cross the finish line with her time of 26:52.1 and a 60th place finish. Nichole Rittgers set her personal-best with a time of 27:20.6 and 68th overall, while Brooke McDonald also set a personal record at 27:35.9 to go with a 71st place finish. Sydney Fitch (27:39.0) and Caroline Pepper (28:52.9) rounded out the top seven finishers for Covenant.

Covenant placed sixth, out of 13, with 169 points.

Covenant will have two weeks before competing in the USA South Championships on Saturday, Nov. 2 in Rocky Mount, N.C.
