Lee Volleyball Drops Two At GSC/SSC Crossover

The Lee University volleyball team dropped its first two matches of the GSC/SSC Crossover. The Lady Flames fell 3-1 to Florida Tech Saturday morning after opening the crossover Friday evening with a 3-0 loss to Spring Hill College.

Florida Tech (3-15) won the first two sets 25-16 and 25-15 before the Lady Flames (9-12) avoided the sweep with a 25-19 margin in the third set. The Panthers ended the match with a 25-14 score in the fourth set.

Emma Flowers and Bailey Kress led Lee with 10 kills each.
Quinne Daoust added five kills, while Mary Katherine Givhan and Hannah Upton supplied four a piece to the Lee total of 37 kills.

Hanna Matthews recorded 24 assists and combined with Calina Croy for 30 of Lee’s 37 assists. Micaela McMichen tallied a team-high 15 digs. Mackenzie Pearson was right behind with 12 digs.

Florida Tech had two players reach double-digit kills. Elena Ciulli had a match-high 14 kills and Audrey Keenan added 12 more. Sheila Villagrasa led all players with 33 assists.

Three Panthers had over 10 digs. Kyra Atkinson posted 19, Keenan tallied 16 and Villagrasa was credited with 15 digs.

Spring Hill (24-4) avenged any early season loss to the Lady Flames with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-8, 25-21) score in each team’s opening match of the crossover. Lee had beaten the Badgers 3-1 at home on September 11.

Stroh and Daoust tallied eight kills each to help the Lady Flames amass 35 team kills. Upton supplied five kills, while Givhan and Kress contributed four each.

Matthews registered 17 assists to go along with nine digs. Croy added eight assists. McMichen recorded a team-leading 17 digs.

Lee committed 28 attack errors and finished with an attack percentage of .058. The Badgers held an attack percentage of .255 with just 10 attack errors. Spring Hill combined for nine team blocks to three for the Lady Flames.

Bentley Odom had 11 of SHC’s 35 kills. Allison Weimer added eight and Kassandra Fairly had seven more. Emmarose Neibert dished out 26 assists and had 13 digs. Cassidi Sterrett led all players with 21 digs.
