Randy Fairbanks
Randy Fairbanks, chairman of the Hamilton County Commission, announced on Wednesday that he will be a candidate for Assessor of Property in the March 2020 Republican Primary.
Mr. Fairbanks, who is a CPA, is serving his second term as chairman of the commission. He was first elected to serve District 1 in 2014 and was re-elected in 2018. He also has served as vice-chairman twice, as well as finance chairman for two terms.
Mr.
Fairbanks said, “it has been an honor and a privilege to serve the people of District 1, as well as all the citizens of Hamilton County for the past five years. I am fiscally and socially conservative and I have treated the taxpayer’s money as if it were my own. I have been a strong supporter of our Sheriff’s Office and our Volunteer Fire Departments. Protecting the citizens of Hamilton County and their property rights has been a passion of mine. I worked hard to prevent a shooting range in people’s backyards on Bakewell Mountain, worked hard to oppose a cell tower in a neighborhood in East Brainerd and strongly opposed putting a waste water treatment plant next to neighborhoods in Ooltewah. I was elected by the people and it is their voices that I will always represent.
“The Assessor of Property is one of the most important jobs in Hamilton County. A true and honest appraisal of every citizen’s property assures that everyone pays their fair share. I would like to bring the same honest and conservative values that have guided my service on the County Commission to the Assessor’s Office. Over the next few months I will be sharing the reasons I am seeking this important office. I have been overwhelmed by the support I have received so far and I humbly ask for the people’s vote for Assessor of Property of Hamilton County.”
Mr. Fairbanks has been married to his wife, Marty for 39 years and they have two daughters and three grandchildren. They attend the Ministry Center in Hixson.
