Hamilton County 200th Birthday Celebration Is Friday

Hamilton County will celebrate its 200th birthday on Friday at 11 a.m. with a small celebration.

The event will take place on the south side of the historic Hamilton County Courthouse at 625 Georgia Ave.

In the event of rain, the  event will be moved inside to the second floor rotunda.

The event will feature County Mayor Jim Coppinger and three scheduled speakers who will talk about the history of Hamilton County.

Contents of a time capsule will be on display as well as a Hamilton County flag that flew in Afghanistan.

There will be celebratory buttons for the public as well as birthday cake.
