Hilda Marie Winkler, 97, of Mt. Juliet, formerly of Dayton, went to be with her Lord early Wednesday morning, October 2, 2019, at her home in Mt. Juliet.
She was born on Jan. 7, 1922, in Asheville, N.C., the daughter of the late John Wesley and Mittie Ann (Ingle) Holt. Hilda was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Anna Mae Butler and Edith Jenkins.
Hilda lived in Dayton from 1965 until moving to Mt. Juliet in 2011. She was a graduate of Biltmore High School at Biltmore Estate in Asheville, N.C.. She served as a pastor’s wife at Ogden Road Baptist Church where her husband, Rev. Alan Winkler, was a long-time pastor. Hilda and Alan went to Israel from August to December 1977. She was active in Salem Homemakers where she was a former president one year and also delivered Meals on Wheels. Hilda enjoyed cooking and crafts.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Reverend Alan Winkler of Mt. Juliet; and her two daughters, Connie (Tim) Slocum of Mt. Juliet and Annette (Owen) Egeberg of Scottsburg, In..
Funeral services for Hilda will be held on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 2 p.m. in Ogden Road Baptist Church with Reverend Brian Kamer officiating. She will be laid to rest in Ogden Road Baptist Church Cemetery on Dayton Mountain.
